Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series makes First Visit to Cherokee Speedway for 25th-annual Grassy Smith Memorial

WOODRUFF, SC (June 13, 2025) – Cherokee Speedway is set to host one of the summer’s biggest dirt track races in the Carolinas on Saturday, June 21st, with the 25th-annual Grassy Smith Memorial featuring a $10,000-to-win Super Late Model showdown.

The Grassy Smith Memorial has long been a cornerstone of Cherokee Speedway’s summer calendar, honoring the legacy of one of the region’s most respected racing patriarchs. This year’s edition adds extra excitement with the inaugural appearance by the Southern Thunder™ Super Dirt Series, promising a fresh mix of top-tier competitors and intense action on the red clay oval.

In addition to being a major stop on the Southern Thunder™ tour, the event will also count toward Cherokee Speedway’s Cherokee Chief Super Late Model Series, ensuring a strong contingent of local and regional stars battle for championship points and prestige.

Admission Details:

• Grandstands: $30 for adults; kids 10 and under FREE
• Trackside: $35 for adults; kids 10 and under FREE
• Pit Admission: $40 for adults; kids 10 and under $10

Joining the Southern Thunder™ Super Dirt Series on the undercard will be… Mid-East Street Stocks ($1,200), Extreme 4 ($750), Crown Vic ($750), and the Southern Vintage Series.
