Southern Thunder to Sanction 2026 Ice Bowl at Talladega Short Track

WOODRUFF, S.C. (12/8/25) – Kicking off the 2026 season with a bang, the Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series (STSDS) is proud to announce that it will oversee the 35th-annual Ice Bowl at Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Ala.) on January 2-3. The long-standing winter event will be held just after the New Year and will feature a $7,500-to-win/$750-to-start main event for Super Late Model competitors.

Qualifying and heat races will open the weekend on Friday, followed by b-mains and the 50-lap feature event on Saturday. A practice night will also be held on Thursday for any teams wishing to participate. The weekend’s tire rule is an all Hoosier tire rule, listed below…

Ice Bowl Weekend Tire Rule:
Left Front, Right Front, Left Rear: Hoosier NLMT 2, 2.5, or 3
Right Rear: Hoosier NLMT 3 or 4

Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series officials will provide technical inspection and officiating support for the event. An official non-points event for the tour will be announced in the coming days. Further details regarding the 2026 points season will be released at a later date.

The Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series visited Talladega Short Track three times in 2025, with three different drivers reaching victory lane. Trey Mills scored a pair of split-feature wins in July, while Zack Mitchell and Cory Hedgecock each claimed checkered flags during NASCAR weekend in October.
