Zack Mitchell claims Jerry Goodwin Challenge at Talladega Short Track with Southern Thunder

Eastaboga, Ala. (October 17, 2025) – South Carolina’s Zack Mitchell continued his winning ways Friday evening, powering to a $5,038 victory at Talladega Short Track. Fresh off his Blue-Gray 100 triumph last week, Mitchell has now added the Jerry Goodwin Challenge to his resume. Zack was victorious in the 2024 Red Farmer Tribute at the track and looks to claim his second crown in the event tomorrow evening.

St. Augustine, FL’s Trey Mills drove from sixth to second in the 40-lap feature, securing the runner-up spot behind Mitchell. Mills previously earned a series win at Talladega in the Alfred Gurley Memorial.

Points leader Dalton Cook overcame a tough start to the night and stormed from his 18th-starting position to finish third and land on the podium. Cook extended his point lead heading into tomorrow's weekend finale.
